On the 27th of January 2020, the former Danish minister of development Christian Friis Bach opened the art (and sales) exhition at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Copenhagen. Click here.
The exhibition was organized by the Danish Art Gallery Glocal Art, and the organization Art for Change, run by the Norwegian artist Eirik Jarl Trondsen, plus Kabira Trade. In his speech, Eirik Jarl Trondsen praised the Danish Roskilde University for their international development studies that had inspired himself so much. Eirik Jarl Trondsen will also hold workshops on "Affirmative Art", an art tool developed in Eastern Africa to make one think about one's own visions of the future.
The owner of Glocal Art Gallery is the Dane Frede Hansen, who also organizes trips to Uganda.
Behind Kabira Trade are Birgitte and Christinan Balslev-Olesen. They trade in shona-scupltures from Zimbabwe.
The best represented country is Uganda with artists such as Kizito Maria Kasule, Joseph Ntensibe and Godfrey Mukasa. Also on display is Matt Kayem. I had the pleasure to see his art exhibition in Kampala a couple of years ago and to meet Matt in person.
